Cory finished the 40 mile bicycle race in 1.8 hours. Lamar finished before Cory. Write the inequality that describes Lamar's speed for the race. Let x=Lamar's speed. Round your answer to tenths and type your answer with no spaces.

So Cory finished a 40 mile bicycle race in 1.8 hours. But Lamar finished it before Cory. We don't know how far Lamar's speed, so that's why we put it as 'x'. \[\large \large 1.8x >\ 40\] 1.8 is the amount of time it took Cory to finish a 40 mile race. So to write an equation for Cory's race, it would be like: \[\large \large 1.8x = 40\] (Where x represent Cory's speed) But Lamar completed it faster than Cory. So the equal would become greater than. I hope this help.
Cool thanks man I thought no one would help me
Oh, you know how to solve the inequality, right?
No but I just typed in the answer and it rejected it which is dumb but anyway how do you solve it?
What would the answer look like when rounded to tenths?
Dangit, sorry. I wish I told you the answer. So to solve this inequality, you want to treat it as an equation, but with the greater than sign. So to solve for x, you want to get rid of 1.8. To get rid of 1.8, you must divide both side by 1.8 to get x > 22.222... x can be rounded to 22.2. So: x > 22.2
And that's rounded to tenths right cause I don't want it to say you're wrong again
Yes. So you should put as your answer: x>22.2
Not sure if you're suppose to put the unit.
Yea you were right as I thought, man my classes are retard-tard (slang for dumb)
But anyway thanks again I think i'll have more problems in the near future will you be able to help?
