The local radio station is giving away some tickets to the circus. Adult tickets cost the station $8 each while children’s tickets cost $6. The station wants to spend no more than $172. Let x = the number of adult tickets and y = the number of children’s tickets. Show all possible solutions by graphing a linear inequality.

well the inequality is \[8x + 6y \le 172\] easiest thing to do next is find the intercepts let x = 0 y = 172/6 y intercept is 28 2/3 let y = 0 x = 172/8 x intercept is 21 1/2 so find the graph with these intercepts the inequality can b written as \[y \le \frac{86}{3} - \frac{4}{3} x\] so as a check look for the line with a slope of m = -4/3 hope this helps
