4b+8/-2 =10

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

\[4b + \frac{ 8 }{ -2 } = 10\] or \[\frac{4b + 8 }{ -2 } = 10\]

whats the answer? Or how do you get it?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

First I need to know which equation it is....1 wrote 2 possibilities...but what does your question look like? the first or second one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

second one

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Okay so for that one We should get rid of that whole fraction on the left side....Notice how it is being divided by -2.....so to cancel that out...we need to multiply both sides of the equation by -2 \[-2 \times \frac{ 4b + 8 }{ -2 } = 4b + 8\] This is what we have on the left side....remember we also need to multiply the right side by -2 so \[10 \times -2 = -20\] So now altogether we have \[4b + 8 = -20\] what would we do next?

is it -7?
