Why is “informal amendment” a misnomer? Can you answer this one. I can't find the answer anywhere.

because only formal amendments can truly change the document. 
This is to mean that there is no way to informally amend the Constitution. Thus, an informal amendment only illustrates the meaning, interpretation or changes through judicial review.
