2 children. In a rural development programme 20 families are to be chosen for assistance,
of which atleast 18 families must have at most 2 children. In how many ways can the
choice be made?

The choices can be made in 3 ways:
Selecting 20 families from 52 families ie 52C20
Selecting 18 families from 52 families and two families from 35 families (87 - 52 = 35) ie 52C18 x 35C2
Selecting 19 families from 52 families and one from 35 families 52C19 x 35C1
So the total ways of choosing 20 families= 52C20 + 52C18 x 35C2 + 52C19 x 35C1
