So confused, word problem, I think its a system of equations question involving four systems, but I can't be sure. Gold used to make jewelry is often a blend of gold, silver, and copper. Consider 3 alloys of these metals. The first alloy is 75% gold, 5% silver, and 20% copper. The second alloy is 75% gold, 12.5% silver, and 12.5% copper. The third alloy is 37.5% gold and 62.5% silver. If 100g of the first alloy costs $2265.80, 100g of the second alloy costs $2288.00, and 100g of the third alloy costs $1312.50, how much does each metal cost?
Three equations, one system.
Rearrange things to have the percentages and costs all together by which one. An alloy is a mix, so you have g+s+c=$ for each set.
Thanks!
One other tip. For the last one, you have 0c.
Thanks, I figured that out!
