how did 0=(x+1)/(x^2+1) became x=-2?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

ECE FTW!!

OpenStudy (primeralph):

x = -1

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

look, (x+1)/(x^2+1)=0 as the denominator is always positive, you can equate it with 0.. so x+1=0.. that would give you x=-1 and not x=-2..

ok thanks a lot :)
