OpenStudy (babyslapmafro):

Could someone please point out my mistake in the following problem? I am asked to use a scalar triple product to find the volume of the parallelepiped that has u,v, and w as adjacent angles. u=<2,-6,2> v=<0,4,-2> w=<2,2,-4> v x w = <-12,-4,-8> u (dot) <-12,-4,-8> = <2,-6,2,> (dot) <-12,-4,-8> =-16

OpenStudy (dan815):

volume can not be negative

OpenStudy (dan815):

just take magnitude of it

OpenStudy (babyslapmafro):

Oh right... take the magnitude of what?

OpenStudy (dan815):

16

OpenStudy (babyslapmafro):

absolute value of 16

OpenStudy (dan815):

it has to do with the fact that w x v will give u the negative of the cross product you got

OpenStudy (dan815):
