square root of 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.7, you silly goose ;)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[\sqrt{45} = \sqrt{5*3*3} = \sqrt{5}*\sqrt{3*3} = 3\sqrt{5}\approx 6.7082\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Break down the number under the square root sign into its factors. For each pair of identical factors, you can write one of them outside of the square root sign, and remove both from inside.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[\sqrt{100} = \sqrt{2*2*5*5} = 2*5 = 10\]
