Will gives best response + fan is someone can answer this! When a baseball is hit, its height above the playing field is measured by a sensor. Determine an equation to describe the curve of best fit for the data collected by the sensor. This is for a parabola graph! Time,x(s) Height, y (m) 0.5 14.5 1.0 24.2 1.5 31.4 2.0 35.7 2.5 38.4 3.0 38.2 3.5 35.9 4.0 31.3

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

is this linear algebra?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

that is the only way I know how to do best fit parabolas.

OpenStudy (boldgeorge):

Yes this is linear algebra, Parabolas

OpenStudy (raden):

use the formula : y = ax^2 + bx + c take 3 points above like (1; 24.2),(2; 35.7), (3;38.2) subtitute that points into equation above then solve for a,b, and c

OpenStudy (boldgeorge):

@RadEn could you give me an example of one? Using the information i provided?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

if this is linear algebra they do not want you to do that.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Im trying to find it in my book, its been a year or so....
