OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

Find the distance from point A (3,-7) to point B (8,-1)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

distance formula goes (for two points \((x_1 \ , \ y_1)\) and \((x_2 \ , \ y_2)\) goes... \[\huge \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}\]

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

It is your discretion which of those two points you pick for x1, y1 etc...

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

okay so do I add them after i get the points

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

first, what are your values for x1, x2, y1, and y2?

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

i got 5 and -6

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

i did 8-3 and 1-7

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

ahh, good :) Those are the differences :) So square 5 and square -6, and add the squares.

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

so -1?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Square 5 and square -6 ?

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

it says have to put my final answer in decimal form than round to the nearest hundredth

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

ohhhh

OpenStudy (mathisfun13):

25 and 6 so than 31?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Why did you not square the 6?
