Simplify: (5x2 + 3x + 4) + (2x2 − 6x + 3) I keep getting 3x^2 + 9x + 1, and that is not one of the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(3x-6x=-3x\)

mathslover (mathslover):

Combine like terms first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you are subtracting, when you should be adding

mathslover (mathslover):

\(5x^2 + 2x^2 + 3x - 6x + 4 + 3\) \(\implies x^2(5+2) + x(3-6) + (4+3)\)

mathslover (mathslover):

Simplify it now and identify your mistake @thedesolusx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The possible answers include 7x^2 + 9x + 7 7x^2 + 3x + 7 7x^2 − 3x + 1 7x^2 − 3x + 7 I have re-calculated and have not gotten anything close to one of the answers... :(
