OpenStudy (lopezking1):

The distances between three towns, A, B and C are as shown below. A scalene triangle is formed by joining three points A, B and C. The side AC is 100 miles, the side BC is 120 miles. The length of the third side, AB, is not known. What is most likely the distance from town A to town B? 15 miles 220 miles 20 miles 140 miles

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

use this :- sum of any two sides must have to be greater than the third side.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

test each option for that condition.

OpenStudy (lopezking1):

Ohh okay now it you made sense lol

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

for ex:- take 15 miles Is 100 + 15 > 120 ? NO. So 15 is not fit for 3rd side. reject.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

similarly test all other options.

OpenStudy (lopezking1):

okay thanks :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :)
