OpenStudy (anonymous):

How come that when you find sin of any number you use degree mode but, when you find csc of any number you use rad mode

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

oh, you only use degree mode when finding the sin of an angle expressed in degrees!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then when do you use rad mode? and you can use degree mode when finding csc?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

you use degree mode if the argument is in degrees, and radian mode if the argument is in radians. doesn't matter which function you are using. think about it: \[2\pi \text{ radians} = 360^\circ\]so a degree is roughly 1/60 of a radian. do you think you're going to usually get the correct answer if the number you punch into the calculator is off by a factor of 60? :-)
