how would i find the first derivative of this function:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[V(x) = x \left(\begin{matrix}16-x ^{2} \\ 4\end{matrix}\right)\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

multiply out the matrix first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats a matrix?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

what you have in the brackets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i get \[v(x) = (16-x ^{2}) (4^{-1} ) (x)\]

OpenStudy (espex):

Was that supposed to be a fraction \(\frac{16-x^2}{4}\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (espex):

Distribute your 'x' into the fraction, and then you can take the derivative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yayayy i got the answer. thanks for the help!
