What led to the popularization of Godel's incompleteness theorems? I'm always surprised by the number of people who are aware of it despite having no formal training in mathematical logic, computational theory, etc. It was undoubtedly an important contribution to science, but Noether's theorems were as important as Einstein's, and nobody has heard of Noether. So why is it that Godel hasn't faded into public obscurity like Noether?
