Celina is buying fabric scraps to make koozies for her glasses. Each glass is cylindrical with a diameter of 3 inches and a height of 6 inches. The koozies will cover only the sides of the glasses. What is the amount of fabric she will use? What does this amount represent? Use three point one four for pi. Show your work.

the circumference of a circle is pi x diameter multiply this by the height to get the surface area (she needs to cover) of the glass. Whats a koozie?

i have no clue whats why i asked the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it sounds like a tea cosy. If you have any idea what that is. Like a sock for the glass :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the circumference of a circle is pi x diameter multiply this by the height to get the surface area (she needs to cover) of the glass. so thats the answer? ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well replace it with the information. diamater in your quesstion is 3. so the circumference of your glass is pi x 3. multiply this by your height which is 6, so the area to cover is area to cover = pi x 3 x 6

Does she only cover the lateral surface of the cylinder, or does she also have to cover the bottom base?
