For the following system, if you isolated x in the first equation to use the Substitution Method, what expression would you substitute into the second equation? -x + 2y = -6 3x + y = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you move x to the other side of the equation, and then move -6 to the other side of the equation, you will end up with: \[x =2y+6\] When you substitute that in, your equation should look like this: \[3(2y+6)+y=8\] Then, use the distributive property: \[6y+18+y=8\] And solve! Hope that helped!
