If you move x to the other side of the equation, and then move -6 to the other side of the equation, you will end up with:
$$x =2y+6$$

When you substitute that in, your equation should look like this:
$$3(2y+6)+y=8$$

Then, use the distributive property:
$$6y+18+y=8$$

And solve!
