What is the domain of f(x) = log(x + 4)? What is the domain of f(x) = log(x) + 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain is the values of x that the function can have and "hold true". by looking at a graph of log x you can confirm that the inside of log(inside) must be greater than 0 (not including 0). so the domain of the first is (-4, inf) and second is (0, inf) where the round bracket, vs the square bracket, means that the limit is not included
