whats the domain of x^4-1

OpenStudy (dls):

R

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

all polynomials have domain of All Real num the restrictions come when its a fraction or square root

OpenStudy (anonymous):

& x^3 is the numerator so what would the horizontal asymptote be?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

umm you might want to add that bit at the beginning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^3/x^4-1

OpenStudy (dls):

1 is the asymptote

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the horizontal asymptote

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

did you look at a graph?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i shall state the rule again for horizontal asymptotes...maybe you should write it down if degree of bottom > degree of top, then horizonatl asymptote is y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it has no vertical asymptote and the horizontal asymptote is -1
