I have this: So EF^2 = 2*GF^2 GF^2 = EF^2/2 GF = sqrt(EF^2/2) GF = EF/sqrt(2) Am I close?

The picture doesn't if that shape is an exact square even if it looks like one. Does it?

What you wrote is correct. The only difference from the answer you provided is to multiply both the numerator and denominator by \(\sqrt2\) on the RHS.

\[\overline{GF}=\frac{\overline{EF}\times \sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{2}\times \sqrt{2}}\\ \overline{GF}=\frac{\overline{EF}\times \sqrt{2}}{{2}} \]
