solve 5^x=1.29 using technology

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

This takes some properties of logs... and a calculator. Please tell me you have one at your disposal :D

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

A scientific calculator, okay? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Well then, basic definition of logarithms... \[\LARGE b^x = y \implies x =\log_by \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i plug it in to the equation

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Simple :) By that logic, what do we get with... \[\LARGE 5^x = 1.29 \implies x = \color{red}?\]

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

We get \[\LARGE x = \log_51.29\] Hopefully, from here, your calculator can do the rest :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Great :)
