as every investor would like a return on his investment..moreover profit can be ploughed back in the business to expand if further....if their is a profit sharing scheme for the workers..then they would work more harder in order to maximize their gains..hence profit is a motive for every one...their are other objectives as well like market share, size of the business, employment, specialized service...
