can anyone show me how to graph ! ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its just a matter of connecting the dots ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says. graph the function f(x) = -x^2-9x-20/x+4. first step , simplify right ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you could graph the simpler equivalent yes, but keep in mind that there is no equivalent value when x=-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i know that .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-x^2-9x-20 ----------- x+4 x^2+9x+20 - ----------- x+4 (x+4)(x+5) - ----------- ; the (x+4)s canccel x+4 -(x+5) = -x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im with you so far.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so the graph is equivalent to y=-x-5, but there is a hole generated at x=-4 |dw:1371660756780:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you put it in 5 and put the hole a -4,1 then connect it ? thankyouu !
