Just a random grade question: Okay, so I have a 96.3 in my biology class, and this lab assignment is worth 4.23 percent of my grade. If I just don't do it at all and completely bullpellet it, how low will that bring my grade? Thanks in advance!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the lab is worth 4.23% of your grade so everything else is worth a combined 100-4.23 = 95.77% of your grade

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you don't do it completely and get a 0 on the lab, then the grade will turn into 0.963*0.9577 + 0*0.0423 = 0.9222651 = 92.23% so, you will go from a 96.3% to a 92.23% if you get a 0 on the lab

Oh! Okay, thank you :3

I guess you already know this, but keep in mind that even though it doesn't bring your grade too far down, you should only skip assignments on a rare basis. Don't get in the bad habit of not doing your work and thinking it won't hurt your grade too badly. It might not do anything now, but if you get into the wrong mindset, then it might go downhill from there and things might pile up. Hopefully you know all this (I'm sure you do), but I just wanted to point that out.

Haha don't worry, this is the only time I've done it. I don't have time to do it, my deadline is tomorrow at 7am and I have a lot more assignments to do, and I know I'll do really good on the other assignments to make up for that 0 :P

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

alright, that's good to know I used to think like that a lot (like "well if I don't do this assignment, then my grade will be such and such") and that got me in a lot of trouble because I often wouldn't do a lot of them. I'm sure you know what you're doing though, so that's good
