I'm not sure that I understand your question, but maybe it would help to understand what double consciousness actually means. Now days, double consciousness is a term used to describe people who heritage comes from two different cultures and as such their identity is split. For example, an Asian-American who was born in and raised in the United States can have a split identity or double consciousness; one American and one Asian. This is not always the case, but is common in first or second generation Americans because while the influences of the American culture may be strong, the influences and customs of immigrant parents or first-generation parents, can be just as strong. This double consciousness can be very subtle and introspective or it can be as overt as an adolescent or young adult who speaks English and partakes in American customs with his or her friends, but speaks another language and partakes in the customs associated with that culture when he or she is with his or her family. This is usually part of the psychological reconciliation process that goes on with people of double consciousness and is actually what the term was originally coined to refer to. I'm not sure if that is going to be helpful to you or not. If not rephrase your question so I can understand what you are looking for a little better.
