estimate 24% of 97 with compatible numbers 12.5 25 75 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well....25% of 100 = 1/4 or 25 .....its got to be close to that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show how i can solve it? thanks too :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want the exact solution or the estimate ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i think just the estimate i dont think i need the solution:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok......25% of 100......here is a little tip..."of" in math problems means multiply. so we now have 25% x 100. Turn the percent into a decimal by either changing the percent sign to a decimal and moving it over two spaces to the left or another way is dividing 25 by 100, either way will give you .25. So now the problem is .25 x 100 = 25. so 25% of 100 = 25. Do you understand ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is just the estimate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if your curious....24% of 97 = .24 x 97 = 23.28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you would multiply 24% by 97?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i understand i had to read it twice haha:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes...24% x 97...but you would have to turn the percent into a decimal, making it .24 x 97 which equals 23.28. That is the exact answer not the estimate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you!:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcome :)
