OpenStudy (paleoint):

Any suggestions as to which is the better course 2008, or 2011? Thanks.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Better in what respect? Neither of them use the latest Python, so there is no advantage there. The newer course tends to have more recent information, but it is not like these changes are really huge. If you want to learn more deeply, take the questions from both and worth through them. More coding causes a deeper understanding.

SC is more structured. It also has recitations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i liked the 2008 because it wasn't polished - just videotaped lectures there are problems/topics unique to each that are worth knowing/learning

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And since they are free.... I like both.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Not like it costs me anything to watch more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i started with 2008 course since i had no idea about a more recent course. But after the 3rd lecture i started 2011 course. i found that more interesting and mostly because recitational videos are not available in 2008.

OpenStudy (paleoint):

Agreed. Thanks all! I think the recitations is the decision-maker for me. I'll use the 2008 to supplement.
