what does "extraneous solution" means? what must we do to determine whether a solution is an extraneous solution?

"Solutions" need do be in the Domain. Those that are not in the Domain are not Solutions at all. Unfortunately, the term "Extraneous Solution" is a little misleading. What we mean by "Extraneous Solution", generally, is "NOT a Solution". An actual Solution that is Extraneous, would be a solution, but just not the one we need.
