Can't remember what an example monomial is, I think -5^4 is an example of one but not sure, someone please help?

it is, because it is a single term

-5^4 + x would not be a monomial, it would be a binomial

thanks! And then a polynomial would be something like this -5^6 - 2a^4 + 4a + 9 ?
