What does the notation 7C3 represent? A. the number of ways to choose all but 3 times out of 7, where order doesn't matter B. the number of ways to choose 3 items out of 7, where order doesn't matter C. the number of ways to choose all but 3 items out of 7, where order does matter D. the number of ways to choose 3 numbers out of 7, where order doesnt matter

http://www.mathsisfun.com/combinatorics/combinations-permutations.html A little past halfway down it shows one combination notation is like\[_7C_3\]which should sound like "7 choose 3." What's more is it is a combination, noted by the "C." Combinations means order doesn't matter! Narrowing it down more, I don't think the notation specifies WHAT is chosen. I hope somebody can double-check this, though!

\[\large \text{Different ways to say the same thing:}\]"7 choose 3" <-> you have 7, choose 3 <-> choose 3 from seven <-> choose 3 out of seven

OpenStudy (theeric):

I think that narrows it down to one choice.

Which is B. Thank you for your help.

OpenStudy (theeric):

That's what I think! Take care!
