OpenStudy (darkprince14):

What does D^n (ln x) means?

hartnn (hartnn):

it means to differentiate that function (ln x) , 'n' number of times.

hartnn (hartnn):

like D^2 (ln x) = D (d/dx (ln x)) = D (1/x) = d/dx (1/x) = -1/x^2 D^2 ----differentiate 2 times.

OpenStudy (darkprince14):

thanks! It's easier now:)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Ah, the joys of notation! Never saw that one before... seems like math notations breed when nobody is looking.

hartnn (hartnn):

lol

hartnn (hartnn):

like earphones tie themselves when nobody's looking :P

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

No, no. That is a law of Physics. The Convolution Factor of Strings and String Like Materials. Where as notation just breeds. Look at how many different ways there are to write a matrix! Some don't even use | in an augmented matrix.

hartnn (hartnn):

ohh....never knew that! was just cursing the earphones all this time, when i should've cursed physics....

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep!
