A car rental company charges 25 dollars a day plus 35 cents a mile to rent a car. What linear equation could determine the cost to rent a car for one day? y = .35x + 25 y = .35x - 25 x = .35y + 25 y = 35x + 25

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

First, remember that $1 = 100 cents. You will have to be consistent in using either dollars or cents in the equation. Also, remember that x is the input, and y is the output. x will be the number of miles. Your formula should multiply x by the cost per mile, and add the daily charge.

y = .35x + 25....where x = number of miles driven.
