Abe has a bag of marbles and wants to divide them into sets. The first set will have 2 marbles; the second set, 5; the third set, 8; the fourth set, 11; and so on. How many sets will he have if he starts with 40 marbles?

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

so far he have 4 sets with 24 marbles, so how many marbles will set 5 will have ?? it goes by adding 3 more to each set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

sorry with 26 marbles

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

the 4th set have 11 marbles so what is 11 + 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

ok so if he used 26 marbles and the 5th set needs 14 marbles, how many marbles did he use in total on the 5th set

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

ok so the question is how many sets will he have if he starts with 40 marbles

OpenStudy (ivettef365):
