Simplify:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 27 - 3x }{ 5x - 45 }\]

OpenStudy (raden):

could u factor out the numerator and the denominator ??

OpenStudy (raden):

try it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All I see is 3 goes into 27 and 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 5 goes into 45.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure what to do.

OpenStudy (raden):

factor out means we have to find the great common divisor, like 27 - 3x, the gcd is 3. so it can rewrite into factos : 27 - 3x = 3(9-x) or -3(x-9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay one second.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3(x - 9) -------- 5(x - 9)

OpenStudy (raden):

ahhh, nice ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then cancel out? and you'd get - 3/5 ?

OpenStudy (raden):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright got it (:
