Rational expressions usually means a fraction involving at least one variable. So an example would be x/3 and another would be 2/x. The product of these would be 2/3. The way to check a product like this (or any product) is to divide the answer by one of the factors and see if you get the other factor. Here, this would be 2/3 divided by x/3, which equals 2/x.
