Im dealing with tangents. I need help finding x. (problem attached) PLEASE HELP
@jim_thompson5910 You're smart I need you
the side marked x is opposite the angle 33 the length of 13 is the hypotenuse
so which trig function uses the opposite side and the hypotenuse?
any ideas?
sine! @jim_thompson5910
good
sine = opp/hyp sin(33) = x/13 13*sin(33) = x x = 13*sin(33) x = ???
I got 8.4422 is that right? @jim_thompson5910
unfortunately no
I'm not sure how you got that, but try it again
well im not sure. I multiply dont I?
first you evaluate the sine of 33
then you multiply
I tried again and got 12 something...
hopefully you're in degree mode
isnt the sine of 33 .9999?
sin(33) = 0.54463903501502
you must've been in radian mode
How do I change the mode?
if you're using a TI calculator, then you just hit the mode button (near the 2nd button)
what does the mode button look like?
what's your calculator type?
actually ignore that, we can just use google as a calculator type in "sin(33 degrees)" without quotes to get this https://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=sin%2833+degrees%29&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enUS420US420&ie=UTF-8
nevermind I got it now :)
so 13*sin(33) is typed in like this (again without quotes) "13*sin(33 degrees)" and it spits out: 7.0803074552 https://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=13*sin%2833+degrees%29&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enUS420US420&ie=UTF-8
so, x = 13*sin(33) x = 7.0803074552
I have another problem just like that accept the degree is 44 and the hypoteneuse is 9. but when I did it I got 6.21 and thats not answer choice @jim_thompson5910
Wait I got it nevermind lol sory @jim_thompson5910
oh glad you figured it out
