5 > x + 7

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Find x? If so, what do you think you have to do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 7 which gives you x is less than -2

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

^Should've waited for her to say that.

.-. thanks guys i was gonna. But i was sorta lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ can you answer my question?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Pretend this inequality was an equation. (Except with an equal sign) 5 > x + 7 becomes 5 = x + 7 To solve for x, you want to get x by itself. So to get x by itself, you want to get rid of 7. To get rid of 7, you want to subtract both side by 7. 7-7= 0 (Cancel out) 5-7 = -2. Therefore, -2 > x Or x < -2 I hope this help! Feel free to ask any question. :)
