OpenStudy (bekkah323):

Factor x^2+x+1 It told me the answer was....Prime?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is because it cannot be factored using real numbers

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

Oh ok so if it can't be factored the answer is Prime

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just like if you have an integer that cannot be factored, like say 13, it is called a "prime number"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have a polynomial that cannot be factored, it is called "prime' as well

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

ok, thank you
