English 6 Online

Could someone help me, It's not an English question, but it's close and I couldn't find the right Category. I'll give a medal to anyone who can help answering because I'm stumped. How come you need a "bill to" address if you're paying by a credit card? I just ordered something online for a friend, and don't want my address associated anywhere, what should I do? Is it alright to put my friends address, because I'm paying anyway?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Credit cared verification is done using the address. If there is an address/card mismatch, they can refuse to process the payment.

Thank you!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If they have "is this a gift" on the order, you might want to mark that. Tends to remove the billing address, $ paid, etc.

It was a custom made VistaPrint Iphone case, and it didn't have such option, and it was also weird to figure out because I am paying with a Visa Gift Card- I do not have an address associated with the card.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Ah, on a gift card it will probably go through no matter what the address was. If it did not require you to sign up an address with the card, there is nothing for them to check.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, that makes sense now. I was just completely confused on why they would need it. I haven't thought of a regular credit card process. Thanks again!
