Which of the following describes the translation of the graph of y = x2 to obtain the graph of y = -x2 + 3? reflect over the x-axis and shift right 3 reflect over the x-axis and shift up 3 reflect over the y-axis and shift down 3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which one are you leaning towards and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im leaning towards thhe 2nd one bc its a positive and on a graph positive is either right or its up

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i like the second one as well, that +3 out there all alone tells us that the graph moves up by 3. the change from y=+x^2 to y=-x^2 also tells us that we flip over the x axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i was thinking thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
