find the volume of a square pyramid with base 12 inches by 12 inches, height 7.8 inches and slant height 11 inches. 528 in cubed 561.6 in cubed 374.4 in cubed 343.2 in cubed

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you were to fit this into a box ... what would the volume of the box be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you do not even know how to find the volume of a box yet ... you might want to review your material some more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have and i just dnt get it still

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you know how to find the area of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area=wh

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct, a box is just alot of rectangles stacked on top of each other. length, times width, times height the give you the bottom of the box as 12 x 12, and the height of the box as 7.8 so, to start with we would want to know the volume of that box before we can determine the pyrimad inside of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't it 1/3 (area of base)(height)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, area of the base is 12 x 12, the height is 7.8 then we would want to divide that by 3 to get the pyramid itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

144 * 7.8 = 1123.3 divided by 3 = 374.4 is that right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help with more

OpenStudy (amistre64):

at the moment, no. i have to attend to my real job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for ur help

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck :)
