Determine whether the given event is independent or dependent. Then find the probability. There are 3 literature books, 4 geography books, and 3 science books on a shelf. If 3 books are chosen at random one after the other, what is the probability that a literature book, a geography book, and a science book are selected if replacement does not take place?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Dependent. Since there is no replacement, when you pick one book out, the probability of picking another depends on what you first picked (because there is one less book now and the probability changes)

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

\[\frac{3}{10}*\frac{4}{9}*\frac{3}{8}\]

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

there are 10 books, but the total number of books decreases on each turn, so 10 -> 9 -> 8
