Ann has four number cards. 5,2,4,6 She arranged the cards into this number sentence to give the largest possible result. ? + ? * ? - ? = result Which of these is the result? a> 32 b> 42 c> 48 d> 52
As you want the largest possible result, you want to subtract the one with the smallest value, in this case 2, and with these numbers, the result of mulitiplicating the largest numbers are greater than that of adding them, 6*5 > 6+5, so we want to multiply them together. that leaves the 4 for addition.
So we have \[4 + 6 \times 5 - 2 =\]
Do you understand these steps, do you know how to calculate this?
okay so its best to multiply the big numbers then subtract smallest number and add the middle number? i understand thank u for making it easier for me to understand
Yeah, atleast in this case.
No problem, just happy to help. I prefer guiding people to the answers rather than just giving it to them, it's just more instructive that way :)
