if you add them up and divide by 2, their average is 20 if you subtract the smaller one from the larger one, then divide by 2. it is 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there's only one set of numbers that does this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is standard deviation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a simple way to think of it is the difference in the actual data from the average the average is 20, and that standard deviation is 5.... so what 2 numbers are 5 numbers away from 20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15 and 25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks @robz8 , that was a pretty easy explanation of standard deviation :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

standard deviation can be more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think i just need that :)
