@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

just do any operation you'd want to do with the 2 given equations! you wanna add, add them, multiply them, divide them etc, ! just anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't get it :@

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

find xy see if this helps your case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it gave -3/2

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

xy= -3/2 so y = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3/2x

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

thats what the question demands ma'am! :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean how did you know that i can use any operation?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

you just have find relation between x and y, these are 2 simple eqns, eqns don't get simpler than this. Its just normal to know that there'll many ways to find a relation between x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i use division let say , then i am getting y=-24x but since this does not lie in the answers, then i should use another operation right?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

thats right we already know the values of x and y x= 1/4 and y = -6 there are endless ways to write y in terms of x ! what other time saving thing you could have done is checking from the options put value of x in that option, if it comes out to be y, then thats the required answer, otherwise try next..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is what i did and i got A as the answer, but i wanted a solid solution and now i have that as well :)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

(Y)

Thanks again :)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

welcome again
