i'll have to checkout the theorem
PK^2 = the product of the other two segments
hold on a moment
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
PK^2 = PS.PT
OpenStudy (anonymous):
20 times 6. or 20 plus 6 ?
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
right ganes has got it its times

20*6=1200
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
also PK^2 = PN * PM
so PN.PM = PS.PT
OpenStudy (anonymous):
22* ?= 1200
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i dont have pn
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
you have the wrong values
PS = 20 and PT = 26

20*26 = ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
520
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
right now
lets let PN = x
so PM = 22 + x
do u follow that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah.. but how do i get x?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is my answer 22 or 23 is all im asking.. :/

PN . PM = x (x + 22) right

ive wasted 18 minutes on this problem alone. im going to have to move on now. thx for trying.
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
well another 3 minutes and we've done it
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
and learning how to do it is not a waste of time...
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Especially since i have about 10 more problems just like this.. i cant take 20 minutes to do each. thats insane/ thanks for trying again..
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Once you know how to do it, it takes no time... how much time did u take learning walking when you're kid ? stop rushing ok...
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
x(x+22) = 520
x^2 + 22x - 520 = 0
x = 14.42
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ive tried for 4 years. I just give up. Sorry for being rude. But thanks.
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
* 14.32
