How does one become a moderator/ambassador?

I just wanna know the thought didn't cross my mind till I was looking at the list of people on biology site and thank you for that info

For moderators, it's different.
They're chosen by the admins when they think you're ready for the job.
I think it's a long process of trust.

Though, you don't have to be an ambassador in order to become a mod
