What Lincoln meant by the quote is the unless both parties work together to complete the task they will get nowhere. For instance, "If you want to go fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk together." You see that quote above implies that together is better. So as Lincoln quote, look at the current state of government if we got together and worked as a team instead of fight, we might actually have a chance getting out of debt and fixing the economy. Instead we fight and resist each other so much that our government has came to a standstill. (Yeah, that the most of it, sorry if it sound dragged out...Its because it is...)
