Solve –4x + 7 = x + 2 x = –1 x = 1 x = –3 x = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add \(4x\) to both sides to get \[7=5x+2\] then subtract 2 from both sides to get \[5=5x\] finally divide both sides by 5, or else just think "if \(5x=5\) then \(x=1\)"
